Job Trends: Where The Jobs Are

In addition to the job postings, one of the things I really like about Indeed.com is the trends and tools they have available.

If you're flexible, for example, like many of today's job seekers, you can see which job markets are picking up, and which are continuing to sink like a stone on Indeed's Where are the Jobs? graph. The areas that saw the most improvement in the second quarter compared to the first are Atlanta, Indianapolis and New Orleans. Those that saw the greatest decrease in job postings are San Diego, Houston and Cleveland.

When it comes to jobs, there is similar information. All the buzz is about social networking, and that's reflected in job postings, as well as in the media. You can see the increase in the mention of the term in job postings in Indeed's Job Trends graph. Want to see what's happening with the types of jobs you're looking for? Enter the terms that you're using to job search to see what's happening with jobs in your industry or career field.

In addition, there are lots of personal tools you can use to expedite your job search - plugins for your browser and toolbar, a Facebook job search application, email alerts, and my.indeed so you can save your searches and access them from any computer.

Also, here are tips from Indeed.com on how to use a job search engine effectively to make sure you're getting all the available job listings to apply to.
